When this course began, I had hoped to learn how to effectively integrate technology within instruction, not just for project based instruction but also for daily, routine instruction. My hope was to learn how to infuse technology throughout instruction and to learn how to provide adequate support and guidance for classroom teachers. The group project really helped me achieve these goals in several ways. First, by working as part of a collaborative team, we practiced exactly what we plan to teach: group collaboration, assigning of roles, support of teammembers, effective use of technology and flexible use of technology to meet the needs and build on the talents/skills of each team member. This was an unexpected surprise bonus in achieving my goals.Working with a team really drove home the notion that technology is an ideal way to reach students of varying abilities, strengths and interests.Technology provides a flexibility in instruction delivery, student learning and student response that paper and pencil tasks cannot. Secondly, my primary goal of learning how to provide adequate guidance, instruction and support for classroom teachers in the infusion of technology was addressed not only by the group project but also through the readings, video and, especially, the CAST activities.I found the UDL/CAST site to be very helpful and have bookmarked the sites for future reference.I also especially loved the two required texts!Using Technology with Classroom Instruction by Pitler was very easy to read and provided a great deal of information, suggestions and guidance on using appropriate technology, as well as ways to use that technology flexibly to address instructional needs, meeting student potential and providing options for student output/response.I have really enjoyed reading this book. While the Web 2.0 book seemed a little more technical at times and not as easy a read as the Pitler book, it was still chock full of information and sources. I especially liked the many, many resources that I can reference in the future. So, this class certainly did meet my expectations and then some!
